Business journalist or research analyst wanted

We’re looking for a journalist with serious analytical skills — or an analyst with the soul of a journalist — for Enterprise. You will work on new regional editions of Enterprise as well as the current Egypt-focused products. You will also be expected to get in on the ground floor of other new products including audio, deep analytical and reported pieces covering issues not yet in the nation’s headlines, and industry-specific verticals.

We are looking for candidates who are available full-time in Egypt.

Our preference is for business journalists, investment banking / PE / research analysts, or fresh grads with the same skills. At a minimum: Whatever your level of experience, you should be a fantastic writer with strong analytical skills — and not be afraid of business, economics and — to a lesser extent — politics.

The ideal candidate for us is a native-speaker-level writer of English. The ability to read Arabic is a significant plus.

Although we have a preference for Egyptian nationals, foreign candidates with a demonstrated interest in the GCC and Egypt are encouraged to apply.

This position involves a measure of shift work and is ideal for someone who is a motivated self-starter.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Background in journalism and / or business and research analysis, particularly related to business and economy in Egypt and the wider region, particularly the GCC
• Outstanding English-language writing skills
• Fluent reading comprehension of Arabic a significant plus
• Genuine interest in covering business, economics and politics in Egypt, GCC, and elsewhere in the Arab world
• Be comfortable with Google for Work tools and Slack. Ideally: No terrified of WordPress and basic HTML.
